Here's a vintage sneaker ad for Hersey Custom which custom made every pair of shoes. These were highly rated shoes back in the day and it was a good deal that they'd replace the soles when they wore out. Hersey changed ownership in 2015 and is now owned by Stephen Keoseian. The brand is still in Massachusetts to this day and puts out custom sneakers under the Hersey brand name and also has a second brand named Victory Sportswear.

And that's the way I want it.
My Hersey Custom running shoes take longer because each pair is custom made. Not made to sort of fit thousands of people who sort of wear your size.
Even before I begin your shoes, I get information about your feet that a mass-producer of running shoes will never have. Like measurements of each foot. And a complete running history.
I want to get to know you and your feet. Because in my workshop you're in control. You participate in deciding how your shoes will fit and perform.
The design of the Hersey Custom is not like any other. Every part of my shoe is designed to give the best possible fit and performance. Using the best materials available.
And I challenge you to find a shoe with better rear foot control.
How many pairs of running shoes have you had to throw out because the soles gave out before the uppers? The outsoles are made of Goodyear Indy 500 rubber and I'll replace the entire bottoms the first time they wear out. And you'll pay nothing, except the postage.
And finally, there's workmanship. My name is on every shoe, so they don't leave the shop without my OK. For $150, you should expect beautifully made, handcrafted shoes. I give you just that.
So, just send your name and address for my brochure to the Hersey Custom Shoe Co., RFD #3, Box 7390, Farmington, Maine 04938. Or call me at 207-645-3015.
