The suggested list price of our new Super Villanova lightweight trainer is only $29.95. Now, a lot of training shoes sell for roughly that price. But the Super Villanova weighs in at a mere 270.3 grams in size 9. Which is pretty amazing, when you compare it with these other training shoes:

But just because the new Super Villanova is light, doesn't mean it's less comfortable. There's a mildly flared heel and a My/T/ Lite' midsole, which help to make the new Super Villanova comfortable and 10% more shock absorbent than it was before. The sole wears twice as long, too. That's because it's made of a new rubber compound called Brooks B-10, and it's triple reinforced at the critical heel strike point. (No wonder the Super Villanova earned a 5-Star Rating for 1980.)

WHY WE'VE DECIDED TO STOP MAKING SIX OF OUR MOST POPULAR RUNNING SHOES.

There's an old racing strategy that says: Don't look over your shoulder when you're in the lead. Well, we've taken that maxim to heart. And now that we've improved six of our most popular shoes, it just doesn't make sense to sell the origi-nals any more.

DOUBLE THE WEAR.

We've changed the rubber in our Racing Stud Sole to a new com-pound called Brooks B-22, and increased the stud length. In tests at a leading independent laboratory, our new B-22 Sole outperformed our original sole by 100%, which means you should get twice as many miles from our new and improved Vantage, Vantage Supreme and Super Villanova.

2.1 OUNCES LIGHTER.

The midsole material is new, too. It's called My/T/Lite®Foam. And in our Vantage, for example, it shaves off more than two ounces of weight. That's almost 20% less to carry. So whether you're racing or just out for your daily training run, the net weight savings is phenomenal. (More than 2 1/2 tons for the marathon, for instance.)

10% BETTER SHOCK ABSORPTION.

Our new midsole also increased shock absorption an amazing 10%. No mean feat when you consider that these shoes are already rated among the best in the world in absorbing road shock.

WHAT WE DIDN'T CHANGE.

You'll be pleased to know that we haven't changed the Brooks Sensa-tion, that tremendously satisfying feeling you get from running in Brooks shoes. Or any of our sensational Brooks features. The Varus Wedge* to control pronation. The Custom Contour Insole* for custom fit. The triple-reinforced heel strike area for longer sole wear. We haven't changed the Brooks Sensation. We've just made it more sensational.
